    Farnborough Village Hall is a good venue for children's parties and other popular events such as an Annual Quiz at the start of the year, Skittle Evening and Afternoon Teas every Saturday afternoon from 2.30pm between April - September.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN

that a casual vacancy has arisen in the Office of Councillor for the Parish Council of Farnborough.

If by 3 October, 2024 (14 days excluding days Non, after the date of this notice) a request for an election to fill said vacancy is made in writing to the Returning Officer at the address below by TEN electors for the said Parish, an election will be held to fill the said vacancy, otherwise the vacancy will be filled by co-option.

If an election is called, it will take place not later than 5 December, 2024.

Warwickshire Low Carbon Network

In April 2019 Harbury Energy Initiative (HEI), supported by the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA), ran what was to be the first in a series of local, mainly rural, community events on the climate emergency. The aim was to bring together existing Warwickshire community low carbon groups to share ideas and stimulate new activity in communities where there currently is none. Since this first meeting in Harbury, ‘How Low Carbon is Your Community? Sharing Solutions’, there have been many more events, including Napton-on-the-Hill, Henley-in-Arden, Church Lawford, Boddington and Kenilworth. Each year we plan more of these events. There are now nearly 36 separate community groups and 160 individual members. Membership is free.

A Facebook Group has been established to enable members to communicate with each other and share information and ideas. A second public LCWN Facebook site has also been set up. Both sites are growing steadily. We have become the Warwickshire Network for The RSA and hope to support the local authorities in delivering their Net Zero plans.

New Bus Timetables

The bus services from your area to and from Banbury have been reviewed.   There are some villages that have received a duplication of services and others (Radway, Ratley) that have lost convenient service during the past year, and some revision of routes will take place from Saturday 5 August to rectify and economise the provision:

Service 77A Leamington-Lighthorne Heath-Gaydon-Temple Herdewyke-Northend-Fenny Compton- [Farnborough-Avon Dassett some journeys] – Mollington Turn - Banbury   (Daily, except Sundays)

Service 77B Stratford-Wellesbourne-Kineton- Temple Herdewyke-Northend-Fenny Compton- Mollington Turn – Banbury  (Monday to Friday)

These services will be unchanged.  (Operated by Stagecoach)

Service 496  Napton-Southam-Harbury-Bishop’s Itchington-Gaydon-Temple Herdewyke-Warmington-Shotteswell-Banbury  (Thursdays)

This service will be revised to operate Bishop’s Itchington-Lighthorne Village-Moreton Morrell-Moreton Paddox- Radway- Ratley- Warmington-Shotteswell-Banbury  (Thursdays)  Operated by National Express Accessible Transport.

Napton, Southam and Harbury will be served by the revised Service 497.  Gaydon & Temple Herdewyke will continue to be served by Services 77A/77B.

Service 497 Offchurch-Radford Semele-Moreton Morrell-Moreton Paddox-Lighthorne Village-Lighthorne Heath-Northend-Fenny Compton-Avon Dassett-Farnborough-Claydon-Cropredy-The Bourtons-Banbury (Thursdays).

This service will be revised to operate Offchurch-Radford Semele-Harbury-Ufton-Southam-Napton- Claydon-Cropredy-The Bourtons-Banbury (Thursdays)  Operated by Coventry Minibuses.

Moreton Morrell, Moreton Paddox and Lighthorne Village will be served by revised Service 496.    Northend, Fenny Compton, Avon Dassett and Farnborough will continue to be served by Services 77A/77B.

Service 501 Harbury-Bishop’s Itchington-Ufton-Southam-Mollington Turn-Little Bourton-Banbury (Saturdays)

Service 502 Temple Herdewyke-Northend-Fenny Compton-Avon Dassett-Farnborough-Mollington Turn-Cropredy-The Bourtons-Banbury (Saturdays)

These two services will be combined into one 501 operating Leamington-Harbury-Bishop’s Itchington-Southam-Mollington Turn-Cropredy-The Bourtons-Banbury  (Saturdays)  Operated by Stagecoach.

Temple Herdewyke, Northend, Fenny Compton and Farnborough will continue to be served by Service 77A.

Overgrown Vegetation in the Village

The Parish Council has received a number of concerns about overgrown vegetation making it difficult for parishioners to use the pavements/footpaths, particularly those who are in wheelchairs or with pushchairs. The Parish Council does not have the power to complete works on land not owned by the Parish Council and would suggest that reports are made directly to Warwickshire County Council who have responsibility for roads and pavements on https://www.warwickshire.gov.uk/reportit or if you have problems using the online system call them on 01926 410 410. It would be appreciated if anyone who owns land with vegetation that encroaches onto public footpaths/pavements could keep this trimmed back.

Who to contact about issues in the village such as fly-tipping, potholes, and overgrown vegetation.

The Parish Council is aware that it can be difficult to know who you should contact when you notice an issue in the village such as fly-tipping, potholes, broken grit bins, damaged road signs, and overgrown vegetation.  Unfortunately, there isn’t a single point of contact for such issues as they are all owned or managed by different organisations but the Parish Council would like to try to offer some guidance to help make the reporting of issues simpler.

Services that the Parish Council arrange/are responsible for:

Emptying of dog waste bins

Grass cutting of all areas owned by the Parish Council

Grass cutting of all areas that are the responsibility of the County Council

Maintaining sufficient access space on the permissive path from Walnut Bank to Dassett Road

Most issues that aren’t the responsibility of the Parish Council fall to the County Council and should be reported using their online reporting system - https://www.warwickshire.gov.uk/reportit or if you have problems using the online system call them on 01926 410 410. If the issue you are reporting is not the responsibility of the County Council (for example waste collections, and fly-tipping) then their reporting system should direct you to the appropriate place – using the example of waste collections, and fly-tipping this would be Stratford District Council.

Any concerns about Orbit owned land or property should be sent directly to Orbit Housing.
